I just obtained a 1995 Hot Springs Jetsetter #J-251602, and I am have some problems, and need advice. Of course Hot Springs helped so much then said that I needed to have it serviced. I am not a have it serviced kind of guy, so if someone can help me with there knowledge and experience I would appreciate it.

This unit had set and not be operated in 3 years. I got it, cleaned it, ran the jets, and checked to see it if heated the the Silent Flo pump worked, after about 12 hours, it seemed to be fine, water was around 100, and all was ok. So since the water had loosed year of build up inside (areas I could not get to, to clean), I ran through a couple cleaning cycles, drained it, refilled it, shocked it, and let it run.

This is where I started having troubles, it would trip (I assume the high temp switch), and the LED would start flashing, and all was dead. So I starting trying different things.

After resetting, and leaving off for a day, I took the filters out, and turned up the heat and at about #1 I heard it click (I assume this was the thermostat turning it on). It ran for about 10 minutes. It was a calm day and I could see the water moving slightly on the surface, and could feel the warm water coming out. So I resent the GFI, and tried it again, and this time it ran for about 30 minutes, and tripped again.

So I replaced the filters, and turned the heat to off, and let it run, I could see water movement, so I left it this way for 24 hours, came back and the red light was still on, but I did not see any water movement. I felt the Silent Flo 5000, and it was extremely hot. I then turned the heat on, and this time I did not hear the thermostat turn on until about #8, I assume this was because the water was so hot in the pump. After doing this still no water movement.

So my gut is telling me it is the 24 hour Silent Flo 5000 pump. At times I could hear and feel it, like it was binding up, and did not want to turn.

Any suggestions? I have not took it out yet (have not had time).

Thanks!

Look for flow obstructions...........clogged circ pump impeller or return jet. Circ pump motor may also be sized. Look for scaled heater element. Calcium build up on a heater element can cause a high-limit to trip off.

Just some suggestions for you. :?:
