We have a Hot Springs Grandee spa (circa 1989). Recently the GFCI started tripping and a local technician diagnosed the problem as needing a new recirc pump. We ordered the Laing SM-909-NH14 and plan to self-install. Two quick questions:
1. The old pump has a large external capacitor and the new one doesn't. I'm assuming that this capacitor has now been incorporated internally?

2. The old pump has a PVC elbow on the outflow, and two small feeder lines from the jet pumps are T'ed in to the elbow. I was just curious about why these feeder lines are necessary?

Thanks for the info!

1. Don't worry about the capacitor...

2. You need those hoses to ensure that nothing will entertain an air lock when draining or refilling. It ensures good quality flow throughout the entire system with or without the main pump running.
