I bought a spa from Gatsby several years ago. Last year the heat stopped working and I just got around to checking it out. The Laing recirculating motor (model SM 1212 NHW 1") was not working. It was hot, but no flow. I took it out and took it apart, cleaned it up and put it back together and it spins intermitently, like it is sticking. I cleaned up the stainless surfaces with a wire wheel and sprayed some lithium grease on it and it spun better, but when I put it back on, it would not work. Took it off again and I think the water and the grease did not mix well, cleaned off the grease but it still spins intermitently. The replacement cost of this pump is not cheap. Is there something I should be doing differently? Can this be fixed? If it is not repairable, is there a less expensive pump that will do the job?

You need to replace the pump. A alternative is the Grunfos pump, it is on our web site, part number PACPGF34
