I recently replaced the motor bearings and pump seal on our spa pump.
It ran well for about a week. Now it tries to start, but just gives a thumping sound near the centrifugal switch. I took the motor to a motor repair shop. They tested it and it ran in both low and high speeds.

I'm supposing that a control malfunction is the problem. We have a Hurricane brand spa pack. I've been looking for a wiring schematic. Would the motor getting high and low power simultaneously cause this symptom?

I did check the air switch and it looked like only one speed was selected at a time.

Replacing the contactor solved the problem.
