Hello, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Here is the info you folks request for my question. I have a Sonoma model 1200 purchased in 1999. It has two, two -speed pumps, and no small circulation motor. Power pack is a GECKO TSPA-a spa pack. Problem: About a week ago i noticed that durring the clean-out cycle it seemed the main pump (the filters and heater is on this pump) operate at low speed, attempt to jump to high speed, then drop back down to low speed. It would "buck" trying to jump back to the high speed. In the last week it has gotten much worse, so much so that I turned the spa off last night, as I thought it might wake the neighbors. The pump is MUCH louder then the secondary pump. When I am in the tub and select the high speed, the pump while loud, operates on the high speed and does not buck back and forth between speeds like it does when the tub is doing it's clean-out cycle. I have very limited experience with tub repair. I don't have the cash now to spend lots of money on a tech to diagnos, so I would really appreciate any help you folks can provide.
Thanks
Mort

It's possible that the bearings in your pump motor are going out. Because of this the pump has to strain to keep the water turning and therefore will periodically "sound" like it is coming on to high speed whenever it pulls the extra amperage to turn the shaft. A new motor or a new pump may be in order. http://www.spapartsnet.com is a great place to find replacement motors or complete pumps.
