I was faced with the same problem.
This was my 2nd silent flow 5000 to go bad in 5 years.
I took it apart and found the impeller rotor was banged up very badly causing it to rattle like a jackass in a tin barn.
I found a replacement impeller assy on line for $75. but after researching I found a replacement pump for $135.00 that claimed to be more efficient, move more water and draw less current.
I opted for the new pump.
It is so tiny and light, it fits in the palm of my hand and seems to move twice the water of the old unit.
I can't recommend it because it has only been installed a week. Research and Caveat Em tor
