also, the heater is working...althought at 110 it takes at least 24 hrs. to reach temp...still no bubbles which I take to mean that there is a problem with the pump....thanks again....

Today I went to clean the ozonator with the vinegar method recommended by watkins and the spa would not suck up the vinegar but instead blew water out the hose into the jar holding the vinegar...I checked the check valve and it was not working...I then just pluged the tube into the vinegar without he check valve and it still blew water out the end of the hose. Water came out more freely when I turned off the jets...I will replace the check valve but I think there is something else wrong here...Many Thanks in advance for any help.....

Peteyboy,
thanks for the tip. I replaced the bad check valve...When I do the watkins vinegar injector clean process, the vinegar doesn't get sucked into the injector...but water flows out if I take off the tubing...Is there a way to clean the injector or do I need a new one??? What might be causing this condition???
Many Thanks, jim

Can the injector be cleaned??? Can you just rod it out or is there something mechanical inside????

I know the 1/4" line and check valve is OK....I'll check the injector but if it's 3/4" I'm sure it's not clogged...unit has a new filter (only two weeks old) so I would guess it's a circ. pump issue...I have a newer style circ. pump lying around somewhere which I bought when the original pump seemed to be malfunctioning but wasn't....Do you have any tips on how to un-clog the system if it's not the circ. pump???? Thanks again for all your help....Jim

Update: I'm pretty sure what has happened to my Spa is that water backed up thru the faulty check valve and shorted out the Freshwater unit. Before I replace the Ozonator I want to make sure everything down line is OK...I replaced the check valve so I know water won't back up but I saw a video on YouTube where the hot springs tech took off the coupler to clean out the injector and no water came out...in my case water gushes out...So I ask, how can I correct this problem??? Many Thanks, jim

Peteyboy,
Thanks for the reply.....and your patience with this....

Power in on
Summer timer is off
Filter removed
I've stuck nothing in the line
no sucking noise
ozonator is now disconnected and removed

My belief is that it's a bad/weak circ. pump even though the waters hot...I was hoping for a less $ solution because know I have to replace the ozonator... I took it apart and the fuse was totally corroded off and the contact with the ozone tube was almost rusted off...I'm going to swap out the circ. pump with a replacement Laing 5000 I bought previously when I thought the pump was bad...the replacement pump seems a little sketchy to me, is there a better replacement than the smaller Laing silent-flo-5000???? Thanks again, Jim

Update:
Rebuilt the existing circ. pump - impeller was full of hair/slime, etc. re-installed and everything working like a champ!!!!
How do I know if the ozonator is working???? Getting plenty of bubbles but not sure if it's ozonated....Thanks again, Jim
