Wiring

Postby Warpdrv10 » Tue May 25, 2004 12:12 am

There`s three wires on the circulating pump I have for the Hot Springs spa. Apparently I "hot wired" the thing and when I switch the breaker on the pump runs. Sorry to be so vague as I`m typing this in at 1am. I guess I could just switch from one to the other until I get it right, but I figured I`d ask if there`s any chance of getting a wiring diagram on the pump?
Thank you

If you wired it, and it's working, then obviously you've done something right. As far as I can tell you don't need a diagram for the pump?

PS: Most circ pumps used in those will have two wires, black and white. Black is hot, White is Neutral, and then the case of the thing, should have or be a green wire, or just connect the ground to the case. That's the way it usually works.

If the pump always runs when power is supplied, somethings defintely not right.
It`s a Watkins SilentFlo 5002 (I just pulled it out...) and attached to the cap is a white plastic "box" that reads
KNM1225
280V-30000H
PO
en60252 10.02 Out of this "box" comes two red wires both attached to a fitting (1a) on the pump. Two black wires come out of the front of the "box". One black wire goes to the other two red wires I first mentioned (1a). The other black wire has a plastic fitting where you can screw in another wire on the other end of loose plastic fitting (2b).
Green wire (FROM PWR CORD)is on the ground.
Black and White wire (FROM PWR CORD) attaches to other fitting(3c) on pump with a third white wire from fitting(3c) into pump.
Last Red wire comes out of the pump and goes to a small clip also attached to the pump (It`s not black or removable like 1a and 3c).
Search engines do not come up with any info for "Watkins Pumps".
Any help on the correct way to wire this up is appreciated.
