Good Morning,

I often get the FLO2 error, but especially when I replace the filters. Is that a bad flow switch? Can I just pull it out and clean it up or should I buy a new one?

I've also heard that it can be a bad capacitor in the pump or something like that. Can you give me the skinny?

Thanks,

Brett

I've had similar issues with my Sundance Capri.

My understanding is that you can get two types of flow failures (FLO and FLO2). The more common one is is FLO. The FLO alert indicates the flow contacts didn't close in the flow switch. The flow switch is in line with the small circulating pump.

Several things could cause a FLO alert.
1) A blockage in the line
2) Air pocket in the line (common after changing the water).
3) Defective circulating pump (expensive).
4) Defective flow switch.

FLO2
I believe you get a FLO2 alert when the control circuits (at spa start-up) detect the flow switch is already closed before the circulating pump comes on. The circuit should be "open" when the switch contacts are open and "closed" when the switch operates. The FLO2 error will shut down the "start-up" procedure and keep the spa from operating. I tested this on my spa by cutting the cord to the flow switch (DO THIS WITH THE POWER OFF) and starting the spa with the red and black wires separated (open). The spa started running with a FLO alert (expected). Then I shorted the red and black wires which indicated to the control unit that the flow switch had operated... this cleared the FLO alert and the spa functioned normally.

The procedure I used is a good way to prove the problem is in the flow switch, which I replaced after isolating the failure. You need the flow switch so that if you actually do have a pump failure or other flow issue you won't risk damage to other components such as the heater.

I had the same problem just after getting a tub. 2003 Cameo Model. I had to "jiggle" the flow switch. I think what happeded is that during the move the switch closed and was stuck, physically moving it, it fixed the problem!!!! I thought sure I was going to have to call a technician, but got lucky. I am a newbie so I thought sure it was bad luck from buying a used tub.

Hi,
My issue with the FLO2 error is that for the last 3 water changes, I have it after every water change. I have a Maxxus from 2004. Now that I am on my 3rd switch I decided to do some experimenting. Also - for background - I also just replaced my circulation pump because it went south :(. Anyways, as soon as I turn on the tub, I see the circ pump force the flow switch closed, and I get a FLO2 error. If I kink the hose behind the switch while the tub is turnes on, there is no error except for FLO. If I kink the hose and turn on the tub and then release the kink, all is fine - until the next filter cycle. Does this mean that there is some kind of circuit issue and the ciculation pump is triggering the flow switch too early??? Again, this is a brand new flow switch, and has only been installed in my tub since the last water change (2.5 months). This has happened twice before, and replaceing the switch fixes the issue until the next water change. HELP???
