I have a sunrise ultra 636 serial OG186 240v 30a manufactured 8/00. The top side electronic key pad is sunrise 3 button 4 wire. The temperature diplay will not respond when the temp button is pushed although the temp reading displayed can jump up and down on its own irrespective of the actual water temperature. Do you think this is a key pad control only problem or is it likely more serious within the circuit board?
PS - the customer service and warranty from sunrise is virtually non existent. My warranty clearly states "Sunrise Spas warrants electrical components found to be defective, due to manufacturer defect as follows: electrical controls 5 years". The dealer accepts nothing and tells us to call sunrise. If you can actually get through to anybody at sunrise they refuse to acknowledge they have any remote responsibilty to even consider this for warranty. They say "not covered" without checking anything. Then they go into ignore mode and refuse to return any future messages hoping I go away. Maybe a trip to court will get their attention?

it could be a problem in either the keypad or the circuit board. It is really hard to tell without having one to substitute. It is definentally coverable under the warranty, and should be replaced at no charge to you.
good luck

Thanks. I replaced the control pad ($400) which allows me to adjust setting but the actual temp fluctuates up to 5~7 degrees higher or lower than setting. Now what?

does your control have a setting for "economy" or "power saver"? if so, and this is on, your temperature may fluctuate that much. Also, if you are using the tub, the heater will not heat when the jets are on, and your temperature will drop below the set temp.

one more thing. Have you checked the temperature with an actual thermometer? I would do this to make sure your temperature display is reading correctly first.

I have no such optional settings. I might have to live with these fluctuations but seems such a wide descrepancy. Is there not a sensor and thermostat that keeps more consistent control? would changing the cicuit board be the answer?

Live bodies is a very poor indicator of how hot or cold something is, unfortunately. Check the temperature with that thermometer, about every half hour, starting from one hour after the tub was last used. Do this for about 6 hours. Don't use the tub or activate the jets in the meantime. Keep a record of the temp at each check. This will give you a very good idea of how well your tub is keeping temp, and should catch any fluctuations in temperature. Typically with a digital control, you should see not more than 2 degrees deviation from setpoint when the tub is not in use.
