Hi!

1. I have a 1992 Coleman Spectrum 280 spa that has held up well for years but is now failed. Error codes read sn1 and sn3, and the spa does not run after complete reset (i.e. no pump turn-on).

2. The Main Power Input is a 230 v circuit

3. The Brand & Model of Control - Powerworks Horizon 400 seies Control

According to the (very limited) manual the Sn1 alarm means the hi-limit sensor is broken; the Sn3 means the water temperature sensor is broken.

Highly unlikely that both of these failed the same time IMHO. Any ideas how to isolate the real issue here and what may need replacement?

My sense is that the board failed; or perhaps the circulating pump, but it's guesswork at this point. Nothing inside the spa is visibly smoked.

Thanks for any and all ideas!

NEVERMIND!javascript:emoticon('')
Embarassed

I spent a few hours on my trouble today, and should have noticed when the tiny RED LED wasn't lit on the PC board that the board was missing power. Metered out everything I could test but didn't see that. It's always the simple clues that are missed.

A simple wiggle of the connector plug from the tranformer to the PCB and the spa came alive again. So it was a bad connection at the plug after all that, not the PCB as I had feared. Probably 14 years of vibration and a little bit of carbon buildup / corrosion at the connector on the PCB.

****. But now still chugging along after 14 years with no major problems!

Thanks for your kind attention and no back to more pressing matters on the spaforums board, javascript:emoticon(':D')
Very Happy
