New member. Great site!

I just refilled my inherited Coleman Spectrum 200 (circa 1993) after it sat empty and idle for six months with a jammed impeller. I finally replaced the motor and wet end with a new Waterway model purchased from another spa site (110v, 1.5 HP just like the original). The pump appears to work fine on both low and high settings. The water is heating as expected. The control box is a Coleman Powerworks.

My main problem is that I'm getting FLO errors, but that's not the only problem I'm seeing. Here's what I've been able to conclude:

1. Upon resetting the breaker, the normal circulation cycle begins. Everything runs fine and the water heats. Until I touch the control pad, that is. Say the current water temp is 92, and the thermostat is set to 95. If I turn the thermostat down to 91 so the jets turn off, the FLO error appears after a couple seconds and the jets turn back on.

2. Occasionally, if I touch any key on the control pad (including turning the light on), the jets turn OFF, the blower turns ON for five seconds or so, and then everything dies and the control pad freezes up and won't accept any button presses. Resetting the breaker restores the spa to normal operation (as in No. 1 above).

3. Oddly, if I reset the breaker and just let everything alone (DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!), the pump operates normally, turning off when it reaches temperature and turning back on when the water needs to be heated.

So, I just spent a dozen or so hours replacing my pump and replumbing a bunch of the way (due to old Hayward fittings), and I'd rather not pay the pro $75 an hour to give me his bad attitude. I've discovered since becoming a homeowner that I can fix almost anything with help from the right people. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your topside control panel is fubar.

Try unplugging it from the circuit board (in the control box), cleaning the terminals real good, and try again.

If still no work, then I'd replace the topside panel.

But while you're at it, I'd unplug every item that plugs into the board and clean the ittee bittee contacts, re-engage, and hopefully youll hit warp 9 without a hitch.

Since there was no bad attitude I'll give you a discount: That'll be $50 please.

Thanks so much for the super fast (and super pleasant!) reply. I'll clean those contacts and then let you know.

Tell me, if I have to replace the topside control, am I limited to ordering one through my authorized Coleman dealer, or is there a generic digital control I can shoe-horn in there?

Tim

No generic... well that depends. You'd need to call us - we've got just about everything they used...

That ain't everything but it's a good start.
