Question from a Newbie...

I have a 2002 Sundance Spa (Altamar-850 series) and the GFI circuit breaker keeps tripping. I installed the Spa in 2002 and this is the 3 breaker that I've had. The last breaker installed has lasted about 1 year now. The electrician says it's a problem with the Spa, and the Spa people say it's an electrical problem.

All I know is that I am frustrated and don't want to keep spending $ putting GFI breakers in every year. Can anyone help??

Thanks,
Laurie

I would have to say it is both problems... it is an electrical problem, but within the spa. You may have current leaking in either of the motors or the heater. The bad part is that unless it starts tripping all the time, it's going to be a tough problem to troubleshoot.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Since my post, the Spa guy came back out and I told him what people have been saying the problem may be (like you stated below).

I got the response I thought I would again which was "I've been working on Spas for 15 years, I looked for leaks, and checked the heater & motors and all is ok with the Spa. It's an electrical problem and not related to the Spa".

Now it's time to spend more $ on a new Electrician's opinion. I love my spa but I think if I get the same answer 1 more time, it may be time to sell the Spa since no one can seem to fix the problem, just blame each other (with me paying for opinions & getting nothing in return :( )
