:?: I recently purchaced a spa on Ebay made by HydroSpa. It has a HydroQuip CS6230 digital spa pack. It's max temperature is 104 degrees. Is there a way to make this tub go hotter than 104? On these cold winter nights it would be nice to be able to get just a few more degrees out of it as once you get in the temp drops to 103 or so. A few degrees makes all the difference. It is wired for for 220v operation so the heater can be on while the pumps are running. I know that some spas have an "override" to allow them to be set for higher than 104? is there a way to do this on HydroQuip models? Thanks in advance.

Max temp is 104 due to a safety issue. Anything above 104 can be deadly...yes DEADLY. The human body can not shed heat in a hot tub and therefore can become hyperthermic. Your body temp will match the temp of the hot tub. Suddenly you have a 104 degree fever and no way to correct it. Above this temp brain cells start to die, and if you were ill with this temp you would be immediately brought to the emergency room. IF there was an "override", I would definentally NOT use it.

And even though your spa may be wired at 240V, that doesn't mean that you can run the heater with the pumps. That is determined by the amperage of the supply current. If you have 30A 240 volt you can not run the heat and the pumps. However, if you have 50A 240V and your spa ALLOWS this connection, then you can use the heat with the pumps. There will be a jumper on the circuit board that will change the settings of the PLC for 30 or 50A service, if your model is capabable.
