Just purchaced a 3 yr. old hot tub. My ozonator light does not come on in the filtering cycle. Have voltage going to the prozone ozonator. How can you tell if it is working?? :?

If yours indeed uses a bulb, and it's not a CD (corona discharge) type of ozonator, then you should see some UV light... pretty bright too leaking from around the perimeter. If not, then it needs to be replaced.

The best way to tell if the ozonator's working? You'll smell it! (There's no mistaking the 'lightning' fresh smell of ozone).

Hope this helps.

YOUR BULB IS BURNED OUT. YOUR BETER OFF BUYING A CORONA DISCHARGE OZONATOR . NO BULB TO BURN OUT. TAKES ABOUT TEN MINUTES TO PUT IN. USES ABOUT 1/5TH THE JUICE AND IS MORE EFFECTIVE. THEY ONLY COST 110 BUCKS AND A NEW BULB IS AT LEAST HALF THAT.........MAKE SURE U ORDER THE RIGHT VOLTAGE AND PLUG END.

I've installed a new Nu-Wave spa pack in a 25-year old hot tub. I got an ozonator with the pack and hooked it up. The UV light is lighting up and I did notice a "different" smell than before. How would you describe the "lightning" smell that was mentioned previously?

Also, how do I balance the bromine now that I have the ozone? It says that with ozone you will need much less bromine. So how much bromine should I use now and what level do I test for?

It smells like the air just after a thunderstorm with alot of lightning discharge, almost like a slightly over chlorinated swimming pool when you walk by, or if you've ever seen the little small box indoor air cleaner that some people have that is a different type of ozonator, it smells like that.
Ozonators are wild. You can rub your hands in fresh cut onions and hold them up to the indoor ozonator air cleaner and after a few seconds, your hands don't smell like onions anymore. They work really well. I don't know about the "light bulb" type, but the corona discharge units work.
Thanks,
jc

Now that's cool. I never heard about the onion odor thing but I've got to try it. Hmmm, maybe this could be another ronco invention. Could get rid of bad breath too! heh heh.

fwiw, the cheaper bulb units work great.
