I was given a used spa that had a newer ap-1400 spa pack.

The spa was working fine before i moved it...now it doesn't seem to want to heat up. It seemed to be heating and then stopped at a little less than like warm.

What is the most likely problem if I have partial heating?

The high temperature reset switch seems to act funny..is doesn't spring out//just sits there. Could this be the problem.

What is the best place to get replacement parts for the AP-1400

Thanks

John

Ok took the high temp reset button out...and now that i know how it works it may be fine...button does not have any action until high temp pops the little pate at the rear.

tested the resistance across the heater coils and it was 11 ohms..i think that is an acceptable range.

any ideas?

Maybe I will start it up and check the voltage across the heater

Heater has 230 volts across it when on..

Obviously heater relay is working

I will monitor and see if heater turns off at some point.

How long would it take a normal spa 240 Volt to heat up?

Thanks

John,

You have eliminated the heater from yuour partial heat scenario. It is definitely not your problem.. I'm wondering how you have the mode switch set on the front ot the AP 1400. If it is in the timed heat and filtration mode.. the time clock could be turning off the heater and pump before it reaches temp... The other possible cause is the thermostat..either not being set high enough or perhaps in need of calibration.
220 volt spas heat about 4 to 6 degrees an hour.

I am going to give it more time to heat up.
I did check the setting for the switch too. Thanks

I am going to give it another try and let you know.

I did monitor the heater relay for the three hours I ran the tub last night and it never switched off.

a side question

1) My spa does not seem to have a filter??? is this normal or am I just missing it. The skimmer tube looks large and deep ..does a filter fit into there some where?
