We have a Great Lakes hottub which uses a Balboa Value 2000 control panel. Recently, we drained the tub to replace the water. After the cleaning and refill, we proceeded to turn the tub back on. The first item we noticed was that the digital readout indicated an Sn on the tub (which we understand to be an indication of a sensor issue). After adjusting the thermostat to the 102 degree mark it was fine once again and no Sn reading. Then we noticed that the temperature reading began flucuating at various "lower the actual" temperature readings (we verified this with a drop in temperature gauge). Now the temperature reading continues to flucuate randomly.

We are aware that two sensors exists - a hi limit and a temp sensor. We are tossing around the idea of trying to replace the temp sensor thinking that it may be bad. Has anyone ever seen this condition before and have any ideas as to how to proceed in troubleshooting?

Thank you !

If the sensor is bad, it would indeed be the temp sensor, not the high limit sensor. It's also possible the electronic T-Stat is bad, but try the temp sensor first.

If that doesn't do it, the elec. t_stat will need replacement, which might be part of the main circuit board, or topside, depending on where the manufacturer put the logic. Usually the main circuit board with Balboa, but I'm not familiar with that model.

Try the temp sensor first. Good luck!!
