Hi, We have a PDC Spa, actually at one of our rental cabins, and several months ago, the 3 little dots started flashing. I called PDC spas and they asked me several questions, if water was flowing properly and yes it is, all the jets have pressure coming out of them. We thought the heater was working properly at the time, so they suggested replacing the pressure switch, we my husband did. And we are still getting the 3 little dots flashing. It usually starts about 20-30 minutes after turning the temperature up. In fact this weekend we have guests in there, and yesterday we set it to 95, when they arrived several hours later they said it was only up to 88. Today he called to say cannot get it to go over 88 and he had the temp set at 102. We had them pull the breaker and set it up to 102 and he called back to say it was working and temp was up to 90. I think though after about 30 minutes them might start flashing again. And then maybe the temp will start to drop. Do you think we need a new heater? It is a 2 speed, 1 pump and no blower. 36 X 2 HP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda

Most likely a high limit probe that needs to be replaced.

Can you tell me what a high limit probe is??
We checked on it today, guests had checked out, and temp was set at 95 and temp was only 87, so after about 30 minutes after it heats up, then it seems like the heater does not kick on anymore. I did read a few places about turning the screw on the pressure switch counter clockwise a bit to make the heater kick on, so we tried doing that today, but will not be able to check until tomorrow to see if it worked.
Thanks, Linda

The high limit sensor is mounted to your heater and tells the brains of the thing if the heater has gotten too hot. Every now and then they'll go a little out of whack and start thinking that a you've overheated when you really haven't.
If the heater is coming on at all, the pressure switch is probably fine.

Yes, the heater is coming on, gets up to desired temp and then after about 30 minutes or so, temp starts to decrease and hangs at around 87-88. So this high sensor probe, is this something that my husband could replace, is it a wire or something?? My husband has done plumbing most of his life.

Yes, it is a very basic replacement. It plugs into your circuit board on one end and is connected to your heater on the other either in a dry well or mounted into a groove. Either way, no plumbing required. Just a phillips head screwdriver and 10 minutes.

Great! And exactly what is it called, high limit probe sensor? I assume I would need to call PDC Spas in PA to orer it. Thanks, Linda

If it is under warranty still, certainly get it from them. If not, they'll still have the one you need with the added benefit of not having to look up any part numbers. If you don't mind doing some poking around you can probably save a few bucks getting it yourself online.

Oh no, way out of warranty, this Hottub is about 7 years old and has worked great up until this little problem, knock on wood, especially for being in a rental cabin and being abused.
We are set up with PDC spas in PA for a wholesale account.
Again, the exact name of the part I am looking for if I were to look on line would be: ??
Thanks, Linda

Tell them you have a bad high limit. It might be called a high limit probe, high limit sensor, or something else, but the generic term will tell them all they need to know.
