Pump recently went out on my hot tub. It's a little 3 person tub with a gecko board/controls. I never had a problem with it until the pump went out. Just replaced the pump/motor and noticed a cracked fitting on the heater housing so i replaced the heater as well. Hooked everything back up and now i get a FLO message. Pump does not even come on, the light flashes indicating it is running per the electronics, but it doesn't actually kick on. I did not replace the pressure switch as it was OK before the pump went out. Should i go ahead and do that since they are cheap enough? Or should i do some tests and if so which ones? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to get the pump to come on first, since that's what closes the pressure switch. Check your wiring and fuses.

So the pump should be running even with the FLO message? I assume on low speed?

The FLO message means the pump should be running but isn't. For normal filtering and heating it should be on low, although high speed will close the pressure switch as well.

OK, i think i'm catching on. What your saying is that my problem is not necessarily the pressure switch because it's not functional unless the pump is running. So step 1 is to find out why the pump isn't running. Correct?

Right. The pressure switch just verifies that there is water flow. The water has to be moving first.

Well, you were right on target! I took the fuse out of the pump 2 slot (must be a spare as i only have 1 pump!) and slipped it into the pump 1 slot and it fired right up. Did get an FLC code then which according to my manual is a pressure switch error. It said to increase the pressure until i get the FLO code then start backing it off. I increased it all the way and the FLC code never went away. So I backed it off a bit, shut off the power at the box, then turned it back on and it's working perfectly. So i guess i don't understand where my pressure switch should be set, but i know the tub is working and the water is hot and that's all i want! Thanks a lot for your advice, would have never known to check the pump first without your help.

No problem. FLC is the opposite issue: the switch is closed even though the board's logic knows the pump is off. On some tubs you have to reset to clear the error. Calibrate the switch when the pump is on and running normally. Increase the pressure until you get FLO (if you get it) and then back it off.
