I have a Sundance Spa Cameo model (built I'm guessing in 1995 because that's what year is on control box). I'm not the original owner. The spa was came with the house we just bought. Started getting a solid FLO message and the pumps and blowers would shut down. The spa tech did a few tests and found the flow switch to be bad, replaced it, and went on his way. The spa went through its normal filter/heating cycle for a day and a half, then the FLO error pops up again. Tech came back out, does some troubleshooting and finds that there is a problem with circuit board (triac board as he puts it on his service order). I asked if there are any servicable parts on the board but he says the whole board needs to be replaced. So I'm looking at about $700 to replace the board. Is this true about the circuit board? It is a Sentry 800 Spa Control System. This is the first spa I've ever owned so I feel I'm at the mercy of the spa tech. Any info or options would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the info. I was hoping I'd be able to find a circuit board since he wrote on his estimate the one I would need (#6600-017). If its easy enough to swap out myself, I might be able to save a couple bucks. I consider myself mechanically inclined so I'm hoping the installation would be no problem. I don't think I want to go as far as replacing it with a completely different controller and heater. I just want to keep things simple and inexpensive, but looks like I may not get either.

looking into a 6600-017 R which is a reworked board. They are not always available. I'll get back to you with price and availabiltiy. If we find one, or if you decide to replace it with a new board... it is a fairly easy process and you could definitely do it yourself.
Sorry didn't find the Re worked version. I'll be glad to quote you on the new one if you give me a call

Well, I was able to locate a new circuit board for a couple hundred dollars less than the spa tech quoted me. I went ahead and installed the new board, filled the spa, and fired it up. Everything looked great. The heater, blower, and both pumps all worked like they should. That was Sunday afternoon. I added the appropriate water treatment that night and set the spa to go through its normal filter cyles (4 times per day). Monday evening came around. I jumped in the spa, proud of myself for saving some money by changing the board myself. I played with the controls to make sure all jets and blowers worked. I got out of the spa after 30 minutes and went in the house. Everything was fine....until....I went out about an hour later to pick up towels when I noticed there was no sound from the spas circulation pump. I lifted the cover, and that darn FLO message was on again (solid, not flashing). Did I just waste several hundred dollars on a new circuit board? I replaced the board because the spa tech told me that's where the problem was. Was he wrong? The flow switch is new, the filter is clean and appears to be in good shape. I'm lost and disgusted with this spa. Any other ideas why the FLO message keeps coming up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on the replacement of the PC board, a FLO message is occurring do to the fact that the system thinks the pump is circulating when in fact it is not. The thing to check for is to find out if voltage is still being sent to the pump. A commonly overlooked problem is that a pump has a thermal overload that will shut it down if the motor becomes to hot from running or improper voltage, so determine if voltage is being sent to the pump by checking between the low speed and the common wire. If voltage is present then determine if it is the corrrect voltage (IE 110/220) if it is incorrect then you will need to change the wiring slightly to correct this error. If there is no voltage present then the new board that you have bought has indeed gone bad somehow and should be covered by some sort of warranty. If indeed the board has gone bad again it would be worth your while to replace the transformer rather than risk losing another one before the warranty period expires. Good luck!
