just adopted an older Jacuzzi from a friend, he said it would heat up to about 90 then trip the gfi, when he was disconnecting it, I noticed melted and black in the wiring box. :?: don't know if it was his wiring into the box or something shorted in the "brain box". Need to know where to start, I know the outside of the box says 115v 20 amp, but if you look on the other side of the cover it gives a wiring diagram for conversion to 230v 50 amp, all the wires appear to be in the correct locations. Any help or thought would be great. I will send pics tomorrow or I can e-mail them(to big to post) wire that burnt is the blue #10
Thanks..

Yup, those are melted! What I would do is get rid of that terminal strip all together and simply wirenut or replace the strip with a new one. Cut back the burned wire to get nice clean copper again. If the wire is too short to get good clean copper, replace. A loose connection caused that burn.

I had the same problem with my Jaccuzi hot tub, as a matter of fact it is the exact same connector that burned up in my tub. It is a 50amp terminal strip and it was not easy to find, had to wait almost a month as it was on backorder. Replace it and cut back or replace the bad wire. You can buy short lengths of #6 wire at Home Depot.

terminal strips are easy to come by, but I would just bypass it all together. http://www.newarkinone.com is a good source for term strips

Have you hooked up the tub yet? I also have a GFCI that trips sometimes. Some days it will heat to over 100, the next day the GFCI will trip a couple of seconds after the thermostat kicks in. Disconneced the heater and ozonater (sp), still trips sometimes.
