Post subject: Diamante Spa / SBSG LX-35 Posted: Tue Mar 30, 2004 7:36 am |

I've got a 18month old Diamante Spa. It appears to use Spa Builders Systems Group equipment (LX-35, part #3-85-1226, rev 11-01) for it's controls.
I've got two problems -- and they may be related.
(1) The "cool mist" feature no longer works. If I press the button to turn it on, nothing happens. The auxiliary control panel that has this button also has an additional button for the light inside of the hot tub. This button works. It's interesting to note that when you cycle power to the hot tub (I flip the circuit breaker when draining & refilling the hot tub), the hot tub will cycle on the mist feature for about 30 seconds.. so I'm guessing it's some sort of fuse/button/control panel issue.
(2) Last night, my hot tub flipped the circuit breaker. It has done this before -- but it's really sporadic. It happens once every 6 months or so. You can usually go reset the circuit breaker and everything is good. Last night, I flipped the circuit breaker, the spa had power and it ran for about 5 seconds or so -- and then it tripped the circuit breaker again. I was guessing that this was related to the mist problem because the spa usually cycles on the mist feature upon powerup.. I reset the circuit breaker and it tripped almost immediately this time. I tried it again with the same result. The circuit breaker didn't feel warm (figure this in: I just climbed out of a 102 degree hot tub and the temp is about 32 degree's outside. The circuit breaker didn't feel warm, but... warm is a relative term...). I shut the circuit breaker off. went inside the house & went to bed. I tried it again this morning, resetting the circuit breaker in the house main & also the one out by the tub itself. The hot tub doesn't even appear to power on (no lights on the controls, spa makes no noise).
Looking for any help/guidance you can give me on this...
Tks- Chris

Hmmm. This one's got me scratching my head. From the way it sounds, I'd almost suspect that your main board in this thing has gone... really gone.
Since it's this new, I would get in touch with your dealer, or call US Tooling & Spas, (909) 923-5521.
If it's not in warranty any longer, or you have no luck, then post back and we'll see what we can do.

I've already been in touch with the dealer (yesterday evening). I'm more of a do-it-yourself type of guy (yes, I'm the knucklehead that likes to take everything apart (sometimes I even get it all backtogether)). Plus, at some point, this tub will go out-of-warranty.. and I'd like to learn as much as I can about the tub before I reach that point.. just for my piece of mind. I plan on keeping the tub for a long time--so I'd like to learn as much as I can about it; maintenance of it; how it works, etc.
To round everything out, the dealer mentioned that it is possible for water to leak through a seam somewhere and drip onto something that it isn't supposed to.. and when the water dries, the problem disappears. he recommended that I try it again when I got home last evening.. which I did.. and the tub did come on when I tripped the circuit breaker. The mist button doesn't work still, but the power-up issue appears to be diagnosed. I've scheduled the dealer out to check things out.
Thanks for your help! This board looks to be a tremendous resource! I certainly wouldn't hesistate to mention or recommend this place!
