I just bought my first hot tub, it came from Sam's club, it's made by DM Industries, it's a portable 110v 15amp plug in type. It has a GFCI built into the cord and I have it plugged into a outlet with one light on the circuit besides the tub, the outlet also is a GFCI outlet. It worked great for about a month, but now the circuit breaker keeps flipping and the tub won't come on. I took the fuse out of the tub, it's a 250v 30 amp fuse, I can't find another one one in town, I did find a 250v 20 amp fuse, but I'm afraid to try it. So I ordered the right size fuse, but I'm wondering why the fuse blew in the first place, any ideas? :(

It wasn't the fuse! The breaker is still tripping and all the tub does is hum first then trip the breaker. I tried plugging it into a different circuit, the one my pool is on with everything turned off to the pool, it does the same thing, sort of, the GFIC trips on the tub cord but the breaker in the pool house stays on! We don't have any hot tub repair people where I live in rural washington state, the company that made the hot tub is in Florida and they are trying to help, but they don't have a dealer for 100 miles! Can a regular electrician help me? This is getting really frustrating, I liked the hot tub for the whole month it worked, but I'm not sure it's worth all this frustration! Could the pump be out on a brand new hot tub? Can anybody help me?

The hum you hear could be that the motor is seized, this would trip the breaker. Make sure the motor turns freely, if it does then check the capacitor on the motor a bad capacitor will also cause it to hum.

Thank you! That sounds like something any electrician should be able to find out and fix, I'll call him on Monday and see if he will come look at the motor. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
