I recently hooked up a 4 year Caldera spa that was given to me. When I first received the spa ihooked it up witht he existing wiring to a new GFCI breaker and it worked fine. About one month ag we landscaped our yard and we buried conduit for the wiring to the spa, moved the spa about 6 feet and I ran the new wiring through the conduit and hooked it up to the spa. Everything was fine for about a week, then the GFCI kept tripping, I first thought it to be moisture due to recent rains. After a few days I again tried to reset the breaker and it worked, this allowed use for an additional couple of days before tripping after a morning use. It has been 10 days or so and I am still unable to reset the breaker for use. Can anyone provide some guidance???

Disconnect the wiring at the GFCI.

Do a very high ohms check (setting above >100K ohms range on your meter) between Red (L2) and the ground wire going to the spa. Then Black (L1) to the ground wire. Then Neutral to the ground wire.

If you read anything (any continuity), then disconnect all four wires at your spa control and repeat the check.

If you still get a bad reading (any kind of continuity) then you need to pull up your wiring or re-do it . Something got scuffed and wet during the burial of the wire.

I pulled new wire through and I was able to reset, however after running the jets for awhile, it tripped again and would not reset again. What could it be at this point??

1. Disconnect the wiring at the spa.
2. See if the GFI will reset.
3. If so, then you've got a pack problem, most likely the heater element because the spa was moved. (this is a very common problem when moving a tub).
Do a high ohms check between either of the heater power terminals and ground. If you read any continuity, that's your problem.

4. If the GFI won't reset with the wiring disconnected then replace the GFI.
