I justed moved into a house that has a Hot Springs, Landmark hot tub. I drained it and refilled it and after I refilled it, the 30 amp breaker keeps tripping at the box (which is for the heater).....everything was working fine prior to me draining the tub. Do I need a new heater and could I have done something wrong when I drained the tub to cause this?

1. When is the breaker tripping?
Immediately?, After a few seconds?, After a few minutes?
2. Is this breaker also a GFCI? (one with a test button on it).
3. Is the breaker very warm or hot when it trips?

It trips immedietly after I power it up....it goes click, click in the motor then it pops at the panel....that fast. It's GFCI fuses.....and it isn't warm. I tested to make sure the breaker isn't bad and that is fine....so I assume it's the heater?

On this thing, I believe you can unplug the heater from the controller. If you can, then unplug it, power it up and see what happens.

Well unfortunately, I think you've found your answer. However, some of those may not have 'potted' (with epoxy or plastic) area where the cord enters the heater element. If yours doesn't, (like there's a removeable cover to inspect the wiring junction at the element), then it's possible that you could've gotten some water in there during the drain/refill.
If not, then... it's the element or somewhere between the plug and it...(maybe there's a nick in the cord that got water in it?).
Just look close at everything...
Hope this helps.

Thanks....Is changing the heater out an easy task to do yourself?....or is it something I'll have to pay somebody to come out and do?
