Hopefully somebody can help me with this one. I bought a 12-year old spa from a friend. In preparation for the new spa, I installed a 50-amp gfci breaker in my house panel (the tub runs on 220, btw). The spa also has a gfci installed in the control panel. About every 5-10 hours of running, the gfci on the house panel will trip. There is no apparant heat and everything else functions fine. Someone I talked to thinks that having 2 gfci's in the same ciruit can interfere with each other and cause this problem. I'm tempted to replace the 50-amp gfci breaker with a conventional breaker and see if this cures the problem, but I also want to be safe. My questions are:

1) If the internal spa control panel is gfci protected, is it necessary to also have a gfci breaker in the house panel?
2) Has anybody else heard of the problem I described with 2 gfci 's?

Hi, I installed a used leisure bay tub about 3 years ago. It specifically required a GCFI circuit breaker as well as the one built into the unit. I would not alter that configuration otherwise you may fry yourself or someone else.
