I HAVE A SPA BY WESLO/ICON MODEL WLHS40070. IT HAD A NOISY BEARING WHICH I REPLACED WITH A NEW MOTOR BN50 A. O SMITH. I ALSO REPLACED THE PUMP SEAL AND GASKET. WHEN I FIRST RAN THE NEW PUMP IT LASTED ALBOUT 10 MIN. BEFORE TRIPPING THE GFCI WHICH IS BUILT INTO THE POWER CORD. I REMOUNTED THE POWER CORD INTO A DIFFERENT OUTLET AND IT LASTED ABOUT 2 HRS. THE SPA IS ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE REPLACED THE POWER CORD ABOUT 2 YRS AGO AND IT SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF TRIPPING. COULD IT BE THAT NOW OR SHOULD I LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE?? BEFORE THE BEARING NOISE IT DID TRIP ONLY A FEW TIMES. I THOUGHT THE NEW BEARING WOULD ALSO FIX THE TRIPPING PROBLEM.
HELP?????

A probable cause of a GFCI tripping after hours may be the Ozonater on your spa (if you have one), try disconnecting that and see if the system still trips, if it does not then you can replace that and probably fix your error. It is rare that a power cord causes this type of problem and would be one of the last things I looked at. The new may also be having to work to hard to push water through the spa, the wet-end of the pump may have a broken impeller or you could have a clog in your plumbing that is forcing the motor to work harder and draw more amperage than it is supposed to, this will also cause the spa GFCI to trip...Try checking the Amp draw on the motor and see if it matches up with what the motor is labeled to draw (16.4 on high and 4.4 on low) also make sure to check it a few times, a clog in the system would mean that it may take a while to start drawing extra amps (every 30 minutes should be good). Good luck.
