Post subject: bleach in hot tub is that bad?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 17, 2004 4:17 pm
I had a hot springs hot tub given to me but the pump doesn't work right. The previous owners said they put a cup of bleach in and it started acting up. If it was the bleach what can be done?

"I had a hot springs hot tub given to me but the pump doesn't work right."

Please define 'doesn't work right'.

"The previous owners said they put a cup of bleach in and it started acting up. "

A single cup of bleach, one time, shouldn't have any effect.

"If it was the bleach what can be done?"

If it's still there (?), drain and refill. If it damaged something, fix/replace it.

I have a feeling there's something wrong with the spa, but need a lot more description. 1 cup of bleach isn't going to cause any problems and perhaps something broke, coincidentally, at the same time the bleach was put in?

is when I go to a customer's house, open the spa control panel, and then the thing blows up. Customer says... that never happened before so it must be your fault.

Yikes. Replace a ONE jet, and then pump 2 burns out a week later. Replace a contactor, the old heater element burns out in 2 days, (whew that's so obvious). Install an ozonator for a customer that never had one then his wife decides to divorce him.

This business is hazardous! Coincidental situations will drive everybody crazy. Stuff happens. Start up the car in the morning, then it dies half-way out the garage door. Must be the garage door's fault.

I think this subject of coincidental situations would make a great book for Amazon!

Perhaps if you could provide an explanation of what the pump is doing, or not doing right we could be of further assistance to you. Details are important!
