I am getting a slimy residue on the underside of my cover. I just wiped it off with a wet rag which worked for a couple weeks, but it's starting to get slimy again. A friend of mine who has a spa just said to use some windex, but I'm not so sure he's got the right answer.

Suggestions? Is there any problem with using regular household cleaners?

Thanks!

No problem with it, as long as it's in moderation. Slimy means that you've got organic growth taking place. No chemicals on it means you're just wiping off the surface, while the pesky growing microbes (algae) are allowed to stay there. So, using something like windex, or perhaps something with some real kick to it, (as in water/bleach mix or ammonia/water), just might extend the cycle of 'wipedown', quite a bit longer than a couple of weeks that you're seeing now.

By the way, there's never a problem with using regular household cleaners for things as long as they're right for the job. I've yet to see a bottle of 'underside spa cover cleaner'.

Thanks a lot, hope that works.
