Post subject: Testing a pressure switch

In another post someone referred to instructions on this site for testing a pressure switch, but I've been unable to locate it. Could you tell me where I would find this info? Thanks

Genny

Well, the way you'd REALLY do it is it's attached to the spa. You need to observe the plunger to see if it's kicking in the microswitch, or if you can't see the switch, then I remove (with the power off to the spa) the wiring terminals to the switch, turn on low speed, or high speed or whatever pump is responsible for pressurizing the heater. Put two leads of an ohm meter across those two terminals, and if it reads short (0 ohms), then it's working. When the pump is turned off, it should read infinity (maximum resistance, or no movement on the meter).

Well, here's something else that should help:

Thanks. I'll try that.

It is pretty simple to test a pressure switch, although they vary in style.

A.) locate normally open and normally closed contacts.
B.) shold not have continuity without flow
c.) should have continuity with flow
D.) is spa is not operating you can blow into switch.
