I recently was given an older spa. It is a 110v unit, 5-person, but I can't seem to find any make or model for it. The control unit says "Advanced Spa Designs".

I was told that the unit did not heat. I tested for power to heat element and there is power, so I was going to remove the element and try and find a new one....well, I can't find a way to remove the element...It is on there VERY tight and I can't seem to find a socket that is big enough to fit it (Largest I have is 1-1/4")....Am I missing something here?

Also, does anyone know the make/model of this unit...I was told it is quite old. I have attached pictures of the unit.

Thank you for any help! :)

I would check at your local home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot. Take your element and look in the hot water heater element replacement section. Take your old element with you, let them know that it is 110v and not 220. My spa runs off of a 1,600 w element on 110 and is 355 gallons. If no luck at Lowes, etc. go to one of your local plumbing supply specialty stores and I'll bet the guys at the counter can fix you up. Hope that helps.

The element that I took out does not have any markings on it....How do I know what the wattage is? Just from looking around...it looks like the 110v elements only offer a 1500watt option. Is this correct?

Thanks!
Rob

Rob, I think what you need is at http://www.spapartsnet.com under part number EHESD20: Heater Element, Threaded nut

Thanks for the part info. From what I was told, you can use a 240v at 1/2 power (110v) and it will produce approx 1/4 the wattage...is that right? so a 240v 6000w, would give me 1500w at 120 power.

Can I just use a standard water heater element that you can buy for $20 downtown? It is the same lenght, and is rated 240v 5500w..that would be close right...1375watts.

Please see my other post for my continued no-heat issue.
Thank you!
Rob
