Plan to shut down my spa for the winter( lowest probable ambient temp 20 here in north Texas). Owners manual says to simply drain it and wipe out excess water but that will leave water in some of the lower plumbing lines and the pumps it seems to me. Do I need to drain the pumps?

Turn off power. Drain spa. Shop vac water from all orifices in the spa. If spa is equipped with blower, repower spa and cycle thru functions to the air blower. Vacuum all water that's expelled. Turn off power. drain pumps, any unions can be disconnected breifly to drain water, vacuum, then add some non-toxic antifreeze. Reassemble unions, pour antifreeze in all orifices including filter compartment. close spa cover. tarp. If in snow area, use 2 pieces of plywood, one on each side of cover. 2nd tarp over plywood.
