 Post subject: leak split union

after replacing element and gaskets have small leak when pump jets come on the old gaskets seem to be a bit sticky should i have used a sealant if so what kind .

If you have a sticky substance on the gaskes, that would be a sealing lubricant designed for their use. What I have done in the past is removed all that sticky substance (it takes time and patience, it's waterproof) and substituted vasoline or KY (yes KY) jelly for the lube to reassemble. It would be best if you could get the actual lubricant, however.
