The valve on the inlet side of the filter does not seem to be functioning properly. I'm not sure what type of valve it is but the valve has a metal stem with a red handle that must be twisted to fully lock the valve closed. It seems the valve handle is no longer connected to the valve part on the inside of the valve mechanism. Therefore, it seems as if the valve has remained closed and the jets on the whirlpool are not functioning. Any suggestions on fixing the valve?

thanks.

If I had to take a guess without seeing the valve, it almost sounds like it could be a gate valve, although I've never seen one with a red handle. You mentioned it lockes with a twist? Does that handle pull out at all? if so, it's a gate valve. All the ones I've seen that have a red handle are ball valves. Either way, proper repair would be to replace the valve, as if it has come apart inside, it's most likely broken.

I would also check to see if the handle is stripped. That is par for older spas If it is a gate valve replace it ,if it is a single molded valve. It may also be a 3pc. unit which you may replace the center pc. if its like a water spicket handle there may be a retaining clip that can assist in removing the plunger Good Luck
