okay, I'm a newbie, but I'm fast becoming proficient thanks to you all. BUt here is a question I haven't found about a problem I'm having.

I have a hairline crack in the PVC of my tub. I got very lucky to find the problem and as you can see - it was the first place or so that I started digging in the foam.

What I want to know is if this can be fixed without cutting? As you see, the location of the PVC has two hoses attached and the overall length of the section is about 5 ". the Crack is about 3.5 to 4" in length.

What I was thinking of doing was using a commercial grade PVC sealant AND possibly some of the stop leak product that I have been reading about.

Could some of you look at the attached and give me your opinion on how to fix it? This location is tricky since the PVC piping can not be moved and there happens to be a 2x4 support in that spot..

This is my first tub that I picked up used and I've done a lot of prep work to get ready for this... what I need is someone to give me some good news for once... I've had quite the ordeal with the electrician and now this...

See attached and please take a moment to respond. This was taken with the pump running. it leaks much slower when the pump is off.

Sorry but the only real way to fix it is to get a sawzall, cut out the affected fittings and install new.

Believe me, it is EASY once you've cut out the bad fittings and exposed the pvc pipe to attach new fittings.

No real help with any kind of crap to pour into for an easy quick fix. You're dealing with a fitting that has a lot of dynamic forces on it, and - the crack will always find a way to get bigger.

If you fix it right, you'll never have to worry about that part of the plumbing again.

Well, I will have someone take a look at it Thursday, but I might try something tomorrow just to satisfy my curiosity.

It's getting to be a never ending project... I hope it's all worth it in the end. I guess you can sense my frustration.

something that you cant see is within that short 5" area are three hoses that come out of that section... do you think it's possible to cut and replace a PVC pipe that small?

You could try some DEVCON, might do the trick.

yeah swine that's some pretty mean stinky glue too. never tried it on pvc though.

The section in question is called a manifold. Yes. Actually, once you remove all the CRAP FOAM out of that area, and cut the fittings off, it's not much more than a simple repair...

Been using DEVCON for several years, it's great stuff, better than advertised. Never had a repeat leak when using it as a patch
