We have an X-Spa Model X-Spa-Dition from Dream Makers. We bought it new in june of 2001. It is a very simple spa, 115V one speed 1.5 HP GE motor with hot water jacket instead of a heater, and bubbles via an air induction valve rather than a second pump. It has been a wonderful device and trouble free until last month. We noticed it was leaking, we unplugged it and the water leaked out down to the bottom level of jets. We called the Spa place where we bought it and the repairman came out for a $65 service call. He took off the side panel and told us the motor seal was shot and leaking. He said the spa was so simple a design, that this was the most common problem with them, he doesn't do seal replacements and suggested we buy an entire new motor and pump assembly for $295 + labor to install. Having been a Wheel and track vehicle mechanic during the Viet Nam war, I decided to pull the motor and replace the $9 seal myself. The GF and I did that today and refilled it. The motor and all the plumbing you can see at the trap door is perfectly dry and the spa is working fine with the new seal, however.... On the opposite side of the Spa, on the Left side (Facing the access door), water seems to be slowly leaking out from under the hot tub. The Patio is graded toward that side, so no matter where it was leaking from that's the side where the water would show up. I did get a lot of water in the bottom of the hot tub shell when I disconnected the pump, so it might just be whatever was left trapped in the foam that is draining out now. I worked on a big 6 person hot tub with complicated 2 speed motor, heater, and manifold on each side with lots of jets when I lived up north, the acid well water we filled it up with ate up the manifolds and fittings, and I had to jack it up, put it on cinderblocks, and scoop the foam from where the spa as leaking till I hit the manifold and hoses and fitting, and then I repaired it. This tub only weighs 225 pounds empty, and has only 10 jets, 5 on each side right and left of the front where the access door is. Does anyone know if the X-Spa has manifolds? it only appears that the plumbing runs from the front to each side, there is no opposite side access door, nor does there appear to be any pipes or plumbing on the side opposite the motor. We didn't see any signs of cracking in the tub anywhere, and since that and the electric motor are guaranteed for 5 years and 10 years respectively, I doubt if they fail. What is the procedure for tracing non-pump seal leaks on an X-SPA, is there any easier way to trace and cure the problem other than turning it on it's side, digging out the foam, and then running it on blocks to check for leaks? At least this one is easy to lift and turn on it's side... Help!!! [/img]

If you haven't already done so, start digging! If you can get the spa on level ground, and start your digging nearest the jet are that is leaking, that would be your best bet. If I am right in my thinking, the jets are cascaded from one to the other, no manifolds.
