Had an ant infestation that coincided with the big jet pump motor starting to leak from what seemed to be inside the motor. From what i have read the input shaft seal must be the culprit. When i pulled the motor i discovered the ant nest was inside the motor. I got as far as taking the pump cover off, but i am now stuck. The pump disc {?} or plate will not slide off the shaft. Do i use a puller? this thing is plastic and appears brittle. any help? thank you all.

It is not a good idea to take the motor apart like you are suggesting. You could wreak the starter switch. For the $100 or so dollars to get someone to fix it for you,it is worth it. It could cost you more if you do it your self.

just a follow up on the jet pump problem. turned out it was just the seal { we thought that } and after some phone calls discovered that a local company called Leslie Pools has the policy if you buy the parts there, they will install for free. Pulled the motor out very easy, removed rear cover, unplugged the wires and away we went. The whole process took less than 2 hours. New gaskets with white grease and i'm done. Could not have been a nicer experience, back to like new again.
