I lost a heater, circulation pump, and a jet pump in a flood. The spa pack was not submerged. (?) The spa is a 1995 Hot Springs Sundance. I sucessfully replaced the heater and circulation pump. The 1 HP Wavemaster 5000 single speed pump was a different story. After replumbing the lines to fit the 2 inch wet end of the new pump, the pump spurted intermittantly till the circuit breaker would pop. The new pump motor was a 1HP energy efficient model with a Premier Wet End.. I thought I had it wired backwards so I reversed the leads. The pump then ran backwards and was shortly thereafter fried. :( I want to still use the wet end but want to get a motor that works with my spa. Did I get a bad motor to begin with or did I hook it up incorrectly initially? The new motor didn't have a connection for the ground to the spa pack, which bothered me as well about the new pump. Can someone point me to a motor replacement?

I wouldn't do anything further until you are able to ascertain the exact connections your motor was supposed to have, and what your new pump motor is.

Every motor has a ground connection, even if it's not obvious. Pump motors can't be ul listed without one.

You've done something wrong with your hookup, eg wrong voltage settings/speeds/connections. One really cannot wire an ac motor backwards, unless you're talking about reversing high and low speeds, however, you can wire it wrong which will fry the motor rather quickly. (ie wiring it wrong does not mean the same thing as wiring `backwards`).

Upload some photos or something. I'll do the best I can with what you can show....
