1996 Leisure Bay spa w/ (2) 3HP pumps (1 of them is 2 speed), my primary pump just hums when powered up. I have checked all fuses and connections. Everything checks out OK.

Also, the pump has (2) capacitors. My guess is they could be bad and the pump doesn't have enough kick to get started. Is it time to buy a new pump?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

If the shaft spins freely, probably a bad capacitor.

If, however, the shaft is frozen, time for a new motor, and possibly a new pump.
