I purchased a used Vita Spa tub recently and just got it set up. The low speed works fine, as well as the heater and blower, but the secondary pump would not start, just hum and blow a fuse. I used an old maintence trick I learned a while ago (beat the heck out of the motor with channel locks) and it will now engage and the jets that it powers seem to work fine. The problem is this motor is extremely loud (3-4 times as loud as the other). I am guessing that this isn't supposed to be this way. The first thing I checked was for an air lock and could not find one. From reading posts here on this forum I have diagnosed it to be the bearings in the motor. Does this sound accurate? If not what would you suggest? Whatever the case is there a temporary fix for this (I am pretty handy) without replacing the pump or the motor? Also can you buy just the pump or the motor or do they have to come as one unit? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, so I didn't read the " Read this before posting" sorry about that. It is somewhere around a 94 for the year. Vita Spa D-53, 220 volt dedicated circuit with a 60 amp gfci disconnect, air accuated controls, 2 pumps (the one in question is the auxillilary). I can't find the ratings on the motors, so I cannot give that information. I hope this helps.

Well, I am currently working on a problem on my own spa and have narrowed it down to the pump after initially thinking it was the circuit board. My feeling is you might be best off replacing the whole pump and scavenging the still working parts off your existing pump for future use,

On the other hand, there was a suggestion here http://sparesources.com/pumps/tspumps.html to find a local electric motor repair shop and have them do it. They say it could be less than $100 that way- maybe I need to scour the local electric repair shops.
