When describing your problem here are the things that will help us the most, so that we can help you: Note that the examples presented are TYPICAL. If it doesn't make sense, then don't worry about it and do the best you can. 8)

1. Make, Model, and Year of Spa or Hot Tub, (If Known!)

2. Main Power Input, eg 115 dedicated circuit, 230 v circuit, or separate breakers for pump, blower, etc.

3. Type and/or Brand & Model of Control - Examples:
A. Unknown, it's a black box that says model PS-4
B. Balboa System 2000
C. Plastic Housing control that sits on top of the main pump.
D. Spa Builders LX-15
E. Len Gordon, FF-1094

4. Topside control; Air Pushbutton, or Electronic type, or electric switches.

5. Pump Configuration (Examples):
1 Main pump 115V, 1 Waterway Circulation Pump
2 Jet Pumps (230V), one is 2 Speed, other is single speed
1 Sta-Rite P2-R 230V 2 Speed next to Gas Heater

6. Thermostat: Knob on side of the house, knob on topside control, pushbuttons on topside control, knob on side of heater / controller.

7. Heater Type - Examples:
A. Gas
B. 2" Stainless Flow Thru, 15" long
C. Beer Stein looking thing, has two small hoses.
D. Plastic housing, looks weird, has water coming in at bottom and goes to spa on right

We may not actually need all of this information, or the details to this degree, but if you don't know where to start, then all of this will be of great benefit in helping you to solve your problem.

If you have a digital camera or the ability to send us photos of your controller, heater, circuit breaker box or whatever it is that is causing you problems with your spa/hot tub, they will greatly accelerate the process of diagnosis.

Lastly, if you go ahead and register here with a unique user name and a real email address, you will be notified automatically when we respond to your questions, making life a lot easier than having to come back and weed through a lot of "Guest" posts, trying to remember what the subject line of your topic was.

Sometimes we will change the subject line of the topic you started to a format that allows others to view them in a more organized way. For instance, a new topic with the subject of "Breaker trips when I turn on jets", will be changed to "1998 Cal Spa - Balboa 2000: Jets trip breaker". If you can come up with something along this line it will also simplify our task of keeping the forum more organized.

Thanks!

PS: Serial Numbers of Spas, Pumps, Controllers, and relays and such do us no good so that's one less thing for you to worry about!
