Hello:

I am totally new to spas and acquired this one in dismal shape with our home.

The spa is a 1993 "Duo Spa" two person on a 115 Flo-Master HP two speed motor. It has the thermastat controls on a dial, an on/off switch, a high heat shut off switch, and a continuos/heat demand switch.

I just bought a very expensive new cover so we drained the spa and re-filled it yesterday. Prior to that the spa has sat off for about 8 months. It worked at the time we stopped using it. I also put in a brand new filter.

After we refilled it, we turned it to "on" and continuous heat, but we could not get the high speed jets/pump to come on when we clicked it with the button on top of the spa. So, not knowing what to do we just left it. We could hear the pump humming. About 2 hours later, I went out to fiddle with it - the spa was much louder so I tried once again to press the pump button and sure enough it worked. So, we let it heat all night.

This afternoon we tested the water, it was warm (not real hot) and decided we'd get in. We could not hear the spa on. We tried once again to turn on the jets and nothing. We reset the GFCI and turned the spa on and once again we have the humming but that's it.

I read a bunch of stuff on this forum and got some ideas - so we looked at the motor, the shaft spins freely. We don't understand why it worked fine all night and now nothing.

After putting so much money into a cover we are broke and need an inexpensive solution if possible.

Any help one can lend would be GREATLY appreciated. I can take pictures of anything if that would help with a diagnosis.
