Hi All,

First time posting. Pretty ignorant of hot tub operation. Just refilled my Cal Spa hot tub (built in 94'). The heater engages and immediately disengages over and over (in other words it's not tripping or blowing a fuse). Has anyone heard of this before? Thanks!

Trey

it could also be your pressure/flow switch. If your flow rate is less than adequate, by just a little, it can easily cause the switch to "bounce" from good flow reading to no flow reading. If your spa is set up where the low speed pump must be on to heat, remove your filter and see if the problem stops. If the problem goes away, you may be in need of a new filter. if you have a separate pump for the heater, called a circulation pump, and about the size of a popcan, then you may have a weak pump, but more likely a weak pressure/flow switch.

A defective heating element will not cause this problem. A defective element may cause your GFI to trip, but it won't cause the heat to cycle on and off rapidly.
