After drain and refill got a sn1, then after shut down got sn3, one more time got oh and replaced the heater element was fine but the posts were burnt and some wires that were directly over posts. changed the wires and noticed a blackened area to the left of the high limit sensor. This is a balboa panel on a catalina spa 5 yrs old. Any suggestions appreciated.

just out of curiousity, those burned wires above the posts, did you cut them and splice them back in? From personal experiance, if those wires are to your temp sensor, and are reversed, it can cause a sn1 error and then an OH error, cuz instead of reading the temp as cold, it actually thinks it hot, and out of spec. Just a suggestion.

I am sure the wires are correct as the error messages I got was before I changed the element . Now when I fire up the tub everything reads and works fine blowers, lights, jets clock ect all appear normal except it just runs and runs and dosen't heat and am getting no error messages at all.
Hmmmmm, its a puzzel as the controls tell me its heating and I hear the circulation pump and see the bubbles but there is just no heat.

On this new information, I would start looking into your heater control relay. If your board is like mine, it will be the relay on the lower right corner. If your style is the open type, where as it looks like little yellow cylinders, you will be able to see the contacts. When it calls for heat, see if this relay is pulling in, or activating. Also, check the contacts on the part that moves. Do they look burned? The best way to check them is to see if you got power going into and out of that relay, and to see if the relay itself is getting power. Hope this helps at least a little!

I am going to the parts section to see if I can see a heater relay.
I do have many yellow cylinder type objects I checked the area you
suggested and the yellow whatchamacallit (cylinder ) near the top center
called the high limit censor looks darkened to the right in the green area
around the cylinder. Hmmmmm maybe when the heater posts got hot and
burnt a couple of white wires I replaced it did something to this sensor also.
Funny everything on the control panel works jets ect....sure would hate to buy a new board if I can just get a new sensor.
Thanks for your suggestion.....
