I own a Saratoga Spas "Olympia" model approx. 4 years old (probably 2001 model year).

Had an FLC error message in early spring (2005). Jets continued circulating normally but water did not heat. Just got around to (attempting to) fixing problem last weekend. Replaced pressure switch on heating canister (SS flowthru type approx. 15 - 18" tall brand unknown). This corrected FLC error and system seemed to be working fine. However, water only heated approx. 6 degrees after running overnight. Normally spa would fully heat (approx. 47 degree increase) during this time. Is it possible that heating element or other control is bad?

Also, if heating element needs to be replaced, if anybody knows the correct replacement part number/type used for this model spa please advise. I've contacted the manufacturer but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Would like to order ASAP. Its a coil type element inside stainless steel canister. Canister is mounted directly to computer control housing (plastic is blue color approx. 12" X 12" square) and heater element screws are on opposite sides from each other (vs. next to each other on some models). There is a 1/8" NPT pressure switch mounted directly to the cannister and a thermostat held in place to the outside of the cannister via a stainless steel plate and wingnut. In going through some online catelogs, it appears to be a "Brett Aqualine" type element 240V 7.2kW 5.5" submersion length, but this is just a best guess based on what the element looks like.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

It is possible that the heating element took a dive and may need to be replaced, use your voltage meter and check for voltage between the two leads of the element to see if in fact the heater should be on. Assuming there is voltage between the two leads then I would replace the heating element, If there is no voltage then you need to trace back to find out where and why the voltage stops.

Thanks for the reply; will do. Although I suspect it's getting voltage because (1) the LCD heating indicator on the control unit comes on and (2) the spa warmed up slightly (but I suppose this could just be from the pumps and ambient temp.). Thanks again for the help.
