Hello!
I'm having a problem with my hot tub heater, and am hoping someone here might be able to help guide me in the right direction.
It's a 3 or 4 year old MAXX Infinity hottub. I believe the model is Vesuivus. It's connected to a 230v 60amp circuit breaker.
The control box cover is labeled with M SPA Gecko. I'm not sure where to look for more specific information on the controller.
There is a main control panel that displays temp, pump status, etc and allows for controlling of the two jet pumps and the single blower motor, temp adjustment, etc. On the other side there is another panel that allows for jet/blower motor control.
There are two 10hp jet pumps. One is single speed, the other 2 speed. Single speed 5hp blower motor.
Heater is 5500w electric. it sits directly under the control module, is stainless steel (2" dia) and about 15" long.
ok - that's the hot tub. the problem is with heating it.
What first lead me to start looking at it was very high heat (5 - 10 degrees over what I had it set for). I figured it was the thermostat, so I replaced it. didn't help, but what did appear on the LCD display is a small symbol that resembles a lightening bolt. Can't think of a better way to describe it, but when I looked at it I thought ground fault.
If I take the cover off, it will lose heat - it'll assume room temperature. If I have the cover closed it will heat to 103 - 104.
One interesting thing I noticed that may have no bearing on anything is that when I let it cool down to about 75, I cut electrical service to it. I then restored service. When it came back on the "lightening bolt" was gone, and the heater was working. Once it passed 90 degrees though back to the same symptom.
I'd greatly appreciate any help!
Thanks, Doug

Hi Doug, I'm having the exact same problem, lightning bolt included. We have exactly the same model of spa. I replaced the heater this spring with a factory new one so I hope it's not a heater issue. I'd really appreciate if you could e-mail me the results of your troubleshooting and repair. Much appreciated !!!! Terry montmurf@hotmail.com

Hello, The heating up issue can be due to the outside temperture and by the heat from the pumps being on. Jsut having the pumps on will creep the heat up and have been known to heat up to well over the set temp. For the lighting bolt icon, this means you have the spa in economy mode. You may have a botton that says "ECONO" and in some systems it can be set for durations of time. If in the econo mode the heater will not turn on except in filtration times but again can heat up from outside temp. Information on overheating can be found at http://www.4azsparepair.com . Hope this helps!!!
