I inherited an old model Cal Spa (at least 10 years old) that was in pieces when I got it. Got the plumbing hooked up only to discover that the heater wasn't complete. Here's a drawing of what I had:

Bought a new 220V 5.5KW flow thru and put it in to complete the plumbing. Only after hooking up to the disconnect did I learn the hard way that this spa was a 110V system. Nearly fried my pump and blower.
Threw a 110 breaker into the disconnec box and hooked up to it. Pump and blower work like a dream.

However, I still have this brand new 220V heater. What I want to do is hook it directly to the 50A GFCI. Problem is, I'm not sure how. The heater control box that came with the system is obviously homemade, using everything from speaker wire to phone line:

Figure I'm going to have to rebuild the control box, but need help with a wiring diagram that makes some kind of sense. Any takers?

Me again. Think I've finally figured it out. I've completely gutted the control box and I'm rewiring it. Could somebody PLEASE tell me if this is going to work, or am I gonna get fried? As I see it, I can control the heater and the control box from the same circuit. Am I on track?

Now, only coil amps will be carried by the T-stat, press/sw, and high limit, and the contactor takes the amp draw for the heater.

Assuming the coil on the relay is 110v
