Post subject: Sundance Cameo 724 heater problem
PostPosted: Sun Mar 21, 2004 7:30 pm
I am in the process of refurbishing a 1991 Sundance Cameo 724 spa and after fixing a number of leaks it has developed a heating control problem.

The digital display indicates that the water temp is 102deg when it is actually ony 80deg according to my rubber ducky. I opened the main breaker for about 1/2 hour and when I turned it back on the display indicates about 82deg which is very nearly correct. At this ponit I thought that I may have corrected the problem but it very quickly went back to sensing the temp incorrectly. Does this sound like a temp sensor problem? If so can anyone tell me where it is located on this model? Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance, Mike.

I forgot to mention that in addition to the temp display reading too high, the pump keeps running when the display reaches the set temp and should shut off.

Mike.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like it could be the temp sensor. There are two small grey colored wires coming out of the controller box. One will go directly to the heater, and the other will probably go up and disappear in the upper right hand side of the equipment cabinet, (through a hole in the white plastic backing) and the business end will appear in the filter water well.

That's the cheap way out. If it doesn't work then you're probably looking at a new board. (Good thing it's a 724 system - They're not too bad on price or replacement).

Can you explain when the actual temp is 80 and the display reads 107 why does the pump keep running? It seems to me that if the computer thinks that the water temp is 107 that it would shut down.

Mike.

possibly because the high limit sensor hasn't reached the actual temperature... I think the system goes offline if the real temperature sensor reaches 115.

There's two of them - with the high limit tripping at 110.

I'll have to look them up but, I'm fairly sure of these two.
