I would like to know what options I have when replacing the jet pump on my Tiger River spa. The Wavemaster 5000 has taken a dump and I would like a cheaper solution to going to the local hot springs dealer.
This is a one speed (3450) 115 volt 15 amp motor with a 2 inch side discharge and what looks to be a 1 1/2 inch suction.
Thanks..

Have you though about replacing the motor only? (as well as a shaft seal) Should set you back less than $100. You might have to buy a new impellor, but that's no biggie.

DO NOT try and go with a pump with a different wet-end- replumbing is too much work on this tub. Just grab a motor...

Man... you feeling snake bit yet? :? :P

Good luck!

I did want to replace the motor only but I broke the impeller and the rear housing trying to remove the impeller. I was using a 5/16 bladed craftsman screwdriver on the motor shaft and my hand on the impeller. Eventually , I broke the blade on the screwdriver as well. Those parts are now garbage and I have no option but to replace the pump assembly. I would certaily like to find the easiest approach to replacing this with an aftermarket unit. And yes , the snake has bitten. But , when you buy old used equipment , what do you expect? lol...
Thanks for any advice you can offer..

Did you have any luck with an aftermarket replacement? I have a tiger river bengal thats about 8 years old now. I drained it for the summer while I built a deck and when I filled it back up I noticed that the jet pump just hums very loudly (did I mention the lights dim? heheh), and if I don't turn the jets off within a few seconds, the circuit trips.

The best I could find was a generic looking 2" side discharge pump from spadepot.com:

Thanks for any info on what youre disposition was!

(at least I still have hot water! I had to replace the heater last year)

jpublic , I bought a new 1.5 horsepower premier pump on ebay fora song . I did have to do a little replumbing but so far it has worked well. I installed the pump on Oct. 1st and have had no problems at all with it. If you need more detail on what I had to do to replumb the tub send me a pm and I will get back to you and I will take some photos too if you need them.
