It's only a matter of time before you purchase a spa cover so how do you determine which one is for you. Well it depends on where you live and how much you pay for electricity per kilowatt hour and the R rating of your spa, call your utility company ask them for one years total dollars and one years total kilowatt hours and divide the dollars by the killowatt hours this will give your actual killowatt cost/hr. Call the spa mfg and ask them to compute for you the monthly cost based on your killowatt cost and get the R value of the cover they supplied with the spa. Shopping for a new cover: I suggest NOT using spa cover manufactures R rating instead use this formula: Add the minimum and maximum taper then divide in half and mulitiply by the following foam density table. Foam density R-value from foam Mfg.: 1"=r3.85, 1.25"=r4.0, 1.5"=r4.17, 2.0"=r4.35 Example: if the spa cover has a taper of 4 to 2 and a foam density of 2" it has a R value of 13.05, (4+2=6, 6/2=3, 3*4.35=R 13.05). Now you can compute your savings by increasing the spa cover thickness and foam density. For each increase in R rating over your existing spa cover you will save 1.5%. In my case the savings in energy did not out weigh the added cost of the cover. My results after 3 years (avg. cover life) Standard R13=$275.58, 13.05=$338.44, r20.85=$333.80, r21.475=$425.34. One final suggestion I used the folowing cover spec: 30oz Marine Vinly with a UV rating of 1500, Steel reinforcement, Virgin EPS foam, double 4 mill or single 6 mill poly wrap around the foam, double stitched cover. Make sure the cover warrenty covers water saturation (major cause of replacing spa covers). Also find out who pays for shipping if the cover needs repair and how much it costs. I ordered my cover through COSTCO 3 Yr. warranty and no shipping for replacement. The same mfg. offers the same cover with a 5 yr warrenty but it costs more and you pay the shipping for repair. Feb 26, 2010 update - I have now had the spa cover made from COSTCO supplier for several months, the cover fits perfectly even though it was an unusual design. In my oppinion quality of the cover is much better than the origional cover that came with the Dimension One SPA.

Let the above unanswered post be a lesson for everybody.... Either presume we all have Attention Deficit Disorder and be brief, or my gawd, at least break your novel up into a few paragraphs. Otherwise we won't be able to answer because we'll all be:
